Часть текста: il m’aurait fallu écrire très longuement pour répondre à vos questions, dont la plupart sont basées sur un malentendu. Aux questions que vous faites: pourquoi le travail manuel s’impose à nous comme l’une des conditions essentielles du vrai bonheur? Faut-il se priver volontairement de l’activité intellectuelle, des sciences et des arts qui vous paraissent incompatibles avec le travail manuel? A ces questions j’ai répondu comme je l’ai pu dans le livre intitulé «Que faire?» qui, à ce qu’on m’a dit, a été traduit en français. Je n’ai jamais envisagé le travail manuel comme un principe, mais comme l’application la plus simple et naturelle du principe moral, celle qui se présente la première à tout homme sincère.
